Dear Students

Paro College of Education proudly invites all students to apply for the Vice-Chancellor’s Reader of the Year Award — a new initiative designed to ignite a vibrant reading culture across the college and nurture sustained, disciplined reading habits among our students.

A reading nation is a learning nation. His Majesty The King has always emphasized the need for Bhutan’s education system to instill in our students critical faculties such as critical thinking, creativity, life-long learning, problem solving, and creation of knowledge. It is imperative for teachers to be well-read in their disciplines as the students emulate them. Reading habits must be cultivated in a sustained manner in schools and colleges. For this, the right kind of environment, motivation, and stimuli must be provided on campus. Paro College of Education provides a robust environment for cultivating reading habits among its students. Among others, it has a fully furnished and well-equipped library and a book-talk series. The Vice Chancellor’s Reader of the Year Award recognises those who have chosen to go beyond the syllabus — those who read because they must grow.
